The municipal utility subsidiary Stuttgart Netze is responsible for the secure distribution of electricity in Stuttgart. It owns the 5,600-kilometer-long low-, medium- and high-voltage power grid, and its more than 220 employees keep lines, grid stations and substations up to the latest technical standards. Stuttgart Netze also expands and strengthens the power grid when, for example, charging stations for electric vehicles are needed, citizens install solar systems or new residential areas are built.
